Narrative:
Atl ground control cleared us to runway 27R via M; local control. Atl tower cleared us to line up and wait runway 27R. As we taxied onto the runway the tower advised that we had used pound instead of local control.the taxiway signage and pavement markings for local control and pound are confusing. The first officer and I both thought we were following the signage for local control. There was not any loss of separation or other ground traffic affected by the error. The tower pointed out the error and then cleared us for takeoff.

Title: An air carrier crew cleared to ATL Runway 27R at taxiway Lima Charlie; became confused but the taxiway signage and taxied onto taxiway Lima Bravo.
