Narrative:
While proceeding from portland me area, home to hanscom field, we experienced a slight roughness or miss in the engine. Barely noticeable at first, but then a little more noticeable. We inspected all gauges--oil pressure, fuel flow, fuel pressure, mp, RPM, egt, etc. All were normal. We tried switching fuel tanks, magnetic check, adjust mixture, RPM, throttle, etc. Nothing made any difference. We requested flight following from portland approach, who then passed us to bos center, as we climbed to cruising altitude of 10500'. Bos center passed us to pease approach. We told pease we had a special request: to remain at 10500' until over hanscom field, then to spiral down into the traffic pattern. At handoff, bos already knew of our request. Bos followed us to hanscom with a discrete transponder code, and told us several times we could descend at our discretion. When we were over hanscom, we told bos we were leaving 10500' for hanscom's traffic pattern. Bos again said, 'descend at your discretion.' we descended through the outer ring of bos TCA and landed uneventfully at hanscom. The engine ran smoothly and never missed a beat for the last 15 mins of the flight.

Title: PLT OF SMT EXPERIENCED A ROUGH ENGINE AT NIGHT. TOOK SPECIAL CLRNC OVER HANSCOM ARPT, THEN SPIRALED DOWN FOR LNDG.
Narrative: WHILE PROCEEDING FROM PORTLAND ME AREA, HOME TO HANSCOM FIELD, WE EXPERIENCED A SLIGHT ROUGHNESS OR MISS IN THE ENG. BARELY NOTICEABLE AT FIRST, BUT THEN A LITTLE MORE NOTICEABLE. WE INSPECTED ALL GAUGES--OIL PRESSURE, FUEL FLOW, FUEL PRESSURE, MP, RPM, EGT, ETC. ALL WERE NORMAL. WE TRIED SWITCHING FUEL TANKS, MAG CHK, ADJUST MIXTURE, RPM, THROTTLE, ETC. NOTHING MADE ANY DIFFERENCE. WE REQUESTED FLT FOLLOWING FROM PORTLAND APCH, WHO THEN PASSED US TO BOS CENTER, AS WE CLBED TO CRUISING ALT OF 10500'. BOS CENTER PASSED US TO PEASE APCH. WE TOLD PEASE WE HAD A SPECIAL REQUEST: TO REMAIN AT 10500' UNTIL OVER HANSCOM FIELD, THEN TO SPIRAL DOWN INTO THE TFC PATTERN. AT HDOF, BOS ALREADY KNEW OF OUR REQUEST. BOS FOLLOWED US TO HANSCOM WITH A DISCRETE XPONDER CODE, AND TOLD US SEVERAL TIMES WE COULD DSND AT OUR DISCRETION. WHEN WE WERE OVER HANSCOM, WE TOLD BOS WE WERE LEAVING 10500' FOR HANSCOM'S TFC PATTERN. BOS AGAIN SAID, 'DSND AT YOUR DISCRETION.' WE DSNDED THROUGH THE OUTER RING OF BOS TCA AND LANDED UNEVENTFULLY AT HANSCOM. THE ENG RAN SMOOTHLY AND NEVER MISSED A BEAT FOR THE LAST 15 MINS OF THE FLT.
