Narrative:

I was at cruise at FL330 when I was cleared to descend to FL270 to cross 90 mi northwest of pie VORTAC at FL270. Before descending I was cleared to descend to FL290 'now,' west/O 'amended' altitude clearance. I interpreted this to mean to descend to FL290 'now,' and continue to cross 90 mi from st petersburg at FL270 (since that was an expected altitude and position on the assigned STAR). At FL273, I was advised that the controller had believed she amended my altitude to FL290, but that there was no conflict.

I INTERPRETED THIS TO MEAN TO DSND TO FL290 'NOW,' AND CONTINUE TO CROSS 90 MI FROM ST PETERSBURG AT FL270 (SINCE THAT WAS AN EXPECTED ALT AND POS ON THE ASSIGNED STAR).
