Narrative:
After landing on runway 24R at lax; we understood the taxi instructions to be taxiway zulu reverse yankee; contact ground. After we turned on yankee; tower instructed us that the clearance was not to turn on yankee and to listen up to instructions next time. We held on yankee; replied 'roger 'and contacted ground as instructed and taxied to the gate. We must have missed the 'do not' taxi on reverse yankee due to radio congestion and after landing callouts and flows.
