Narrative:
Aircraft X was issued line up and wait (luaw) instruction for runway 12R. Aircraft Y had been taxied to runway 22. I had multiple aircraft. A previous departure had not turned as instructed; so I had to coordinate a point out with departure control. I had another arrival inbound for runway 12R. That aircraft requested to change arrival to runway 17. After completing coordination with departure control; I mistakenly used the wrong call sign for the aircraft already in position on runway 12R. I cleared aircraft Y for takeoff on runway 12R when I should have cleared aircraft X. Aircraft Y started departure roll on runway 22. I noticed the aircraft on runway 12R had not started departure roll because the arrival to runway 17 was about to turn final. Aircraft Y must have noticed the mistake and aborted takeoff on runway 22. Aircraft X was recleared for takeoff on runway 12R and the arrival to runway 17 landed without further incident. Aircraft Y taxied back to runway 22 and departed.I accept full responsibly for this error. I am disappointed that I did not catch the call sign error. I am glad that aircraft Y stopped. I failed in this situation. I can only try to avoid this situation in the future
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: An aircraft was cleared for takeoff with an arrival on short final for an intersecting runway. The departure saw the arriving traffic and aborted its takeoff. The Controller meant to clear a different aircraft for takeoff from a different runway which would not have been a confliction with the arrival.
