Narrative:
Following hand off maintenance discussion with previous crew; aircraft was flown for six days of rotation with MEL for deferred hydraulic quantity indicator. Was informed by maintenance on last day that the deferral may not have been in keeping with the intent of the MEL. Conferred with maintenance and chief pilot office; cas (crew alerting system) indications in cyan for related faults in flaps; gear; and spoilers not permitted. Aircraft grounded for repairs.better understanding of restrictions when operating under MEL authorization and the need for consistent management of maintenance authorized deferrals under MEL authorization. Better communications protocols for communicating between the flight crews and maintenance.

Title: Hydraulic Quantity Indicator was deferred incorrectly because the Crew Alerting System indicated in CYAN faults for flaps; gear; and spoilers.
