Narrative:

Short flight from lwc to mci, IFR flight plan. WX forecast included light to moderate rime from freezing level at 4000' MSL to much higher. Encountered trace rime for 2 mins. Was cleared lower to evade ice, down to 2400', which eliminated the problem. In future will be highly skeptical of icing area forecasts.

Narrative: SHORT FLT FROM LWC TO MCI, IFR FLT PLAN. WX FORECAST INCLUDED LIGHT TO MODERATE RIME FROM FREEZING LEVEL AT 4000' MSL TO MUCH HIGHER. ENCOUNTERED TRACE RIME FOR 2 MINS. WAS CLRED LOWER TO EVADE ICE, DOWN TO 2400', WHICH ELIMINATED THE PROB. IN FUTURE WILL BE HIGHLY SKEPTICAL OF ICING AREA FORECASTS.
