Narrative:
Departure instructions were to fly heading 020 degrees. After departure, I did fly heading 020 degrees. Tower (bjc) advised traffic, an small aircraft, crossing my 12 O'clock. Since I was the overcoming aircraft, I changed my heading to 060 degrees in order to overtake to the right of the small aircraft. I was then handed off to den departure, and my deviation from my clearance was noted. Later, about 20 mins, I switched to my tip tanks, which had air in the long lines. One at a time, each engine lost power for about 1/2 min while the air was being purged. This approximately 1 mi power reduction resulted in a 500' descent from my assigned altitude of 9000'. The deviation was noted by the ATC controller (den). The tip tank's lines should have been purged on the ground using the quick drain valves.

Title: GA PLT'S ATTITUDE INTERFERES WITH PROFESSIONALISM AND CREATES CLRNC DEVIATIONS IN HEADINGS, ALTS AND EQUIPMENT PROCS IN 2 SUCCESSIVE FLTS.
Narrative: DEP INSTRUCTIONS WERE TO FLY HDG 020 DEGS. AFTER DEP, I DID FLY HDG 020 DEGS. TWR (BJC) ADVISED TFC, AN SMA, XING MY 12 O'CLOCK. SINCE I WAS THE OVERCOMING ACFT, I CHANGED MY HDG TO 060 DEGS IN ORDER TO OVERTAKE TO THE RIGHT OF THE SMA. I WAS THEN HANDED OFF TO DEN DEP, AND MY DEVIATION FROM MY CLRNC WAS NOTED. LATER, ABOUT 20 MINS, I SWITCHED TO MY TIP TANKS, WHICH HAD AIR IN THE LONG LINES. ONE AT A TIME, EACH ENG LOST PWR FOR ABOUT 1/2 MIN WHILE THE AIR WAS BEING PURGED. THIS APPROX 1 MI PWR REDUCTION RESULTED IN A 500' DSCNT FROM MY ASSIGNED ALT OF 9000'. THE DEVIATION WAS NOTED BY THE ATC CTLR (DEN). THE TIP TANK'S LINES SHOULD HAVE BEEN PURGED ON THE GND USING THE QUICK DRAIN VALVES.
