Narrative:
Descent into bmi. Approximately 30 mi northeast at 4000' a smoke aft rear cargo area light illuminated on the central warning panel, at which time we notified the F/a. Ran the emergency checklist and followed company procedures. F/a, ATC and company were all notified. Landed at bmi. Proceeded with emergency shutdown and evacuate/evacuation per company procedures. Passenger were not injured. Bmi crash fire rescue was waiting. Inspected the aft cargo compartment. No trace of smoke or fire.

Title: REAR CARGO AREA SMOKE WARNING SIGNAL IN COCKPIT ON APCH TO BMI CAUSED FLT CREW TO CALL FOR EMERGENCY EQUIPMENT AND EMERGENCY EVACUATE PASSENGERS ON THE RWY.
Narrative: DSCNT INTO BMI. APPROX 30 MI NE AT 4000' A SMOKE AFT REAR CARGO AREA LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE CENTRAL WARNING PANEL, AT WHICH TIME WE NOTIFIED THE F/A. RAN THE EMER CHKLIST AND FOLLOWED COMPANY PROCS. F/A, ATC AND COMPANY WERE ALL NOTIFIED. LANDED AT BMI. PROCEEDED WITH EMER SHUTDOWN AND EVAC PER COMPANY PROCS. PAX WERE NOT INJURED.
