Narrative:
Runway excursion off 23R at btl. Stabilized approach; a bit left of center line which was corrected before touchdown. Touchdown on or near center line (center line was obscured by snow). Aircraft immediately felt like it was skidding. Student still had control at this point; as the aircraft began to skid to the left I (the instructor) took controls; but was unable to regain control. The aircraft skidded off runway 23R to the left into a snow bank. No damage to the aircraft or personal injury. The aircraft was about 8-10 feet off the runway; the tail of the aircraft was still over the runway.
