Narrative:

After forward entry door of medium large transport X was closed by gate agent, she notified me that the door had rested on jet bridge, and that the jet bridge had to be lowered in order to close the door. Jet bridge had not self-leveled as it should have automatically done. She informed me that she noticed a slight dent on lower edge of door, but that she had no problem closing and securing the door. The door light (forward entry) in the cockpit showed closed and locked. I informed the agent that I would inform sjc maintenance (destination) and have them look at the dent. I felt that the door was secure and safe for flight, and that the aircraft was in an airworthy condition. Indeed, sjc maintenance checked the condition of the door, and found it ok for service. I also looked at the bottom edge of the door and found only normal wear. We then flew the aircraft to bur and back to sjc. I wrote the problem up in our maintenance log book to point a finger at a malfunctioning self-leveling device on a jet bridge, but the write-up could have been misunderstood, and a question as to the airworthiness of the aircraft that I flew from pdx to sjc could possibly be incorrectly assumed. Supplemental information from acn 134232: the intent of the write-up was to have maintenance rechk the door to be certain that there was no damage that was not observed by the agent, crew or ground personnel. The other intent was to identify a problem with the automatic leveling system on the jet bridge and have action taken to fix it for future use.

Title: DOOR OF ACR MLG FOUND TO BE RESTING ON JETWAY BRIDGE. FLT CREW INSPECTS DOOR AND DEPARTS. POTENTIAL DISCREPANCY IS WRITTEN UP AT DESTINATION.

Narrative: AFTER FORWARD ENTRY DOOR OF MLG X WAS CLOSED BY GATE AGENT, SHE NOTIFIED ME THAT THE DOOR HAD RESTED ON JET BRIDGE, AND THAT THE JET BRIDGE HAD TO BE LOWERED IN ORDER TO CLOSE THE DOOR. JET BRIDGE HAD NOT SELF-LEVELED AS IT SHOULD HAVE AUTOMATICALLY DONE. SHE INFORMED ME THAT SHE NOTICED A SLIGHT DENT ON LOWER EDGE OF DOOR, BUT THAT SHE HAD NO PROB CLOSING AND SECURING THE DOOR. THE DOOR LIGHT (FORWARD ENTRY) IN THE COCKPIT SHOWED CLOSED AND LOCKED. I INFORMED THE AGENT THAT I WOULD INFORM SJC MAINT (DEST) AND HAVE THEM LOOK AT THE DENT. I FELT THAT THE DOOR WAS SECURE AND SAFE FOR FLT, AND THAT THE ACFT WAS IN AN AIRWORTHY CONDITION. INDEED, SJC MAINT CHKED THE CONDITION OF THE DOOR, AND FOUND IT OK FOR SVC. I ALSO LOOKED AT THE BOTTOM EDGE OF THE DOOR AND FOUND ONLY NORMAL WEAR. WE THEN FLEW THE ACFT TO BUR AND BACK TO SJC. I WROTE THE PROB UP IN OUR MAINT LOG BOOK TO POINT A FINGER AT A MALFUNCTIONING SELF-LEVELING DEVICE ON A JET BRIDGE, BUT THE WRITE-UP COULD HAVE BEEN MISUNDERSTOOD, AND A QUESTION AS TO THE AIRWORTHINESS OF THE ACFT THAT I FLEW FROM PDX TO SJC COULD POSSIBLY BE INCORRECTLY ASSUMED. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 134232: THE INTENT OF THE WRITE-UP WAS TO HAVE MAINT RECHK THE DOOR TO BE CERTAIN THAT THERE WAS NO DAMAGE THAT WAS NOT OBSERVED BY THE AGENT, CREW OR GND PERSONNEL. THE OTHER INTENT WAS TO IDENT A PROB WITH THE AUTOMATIC LEVELING SYS ON THE JET BRIDGE AND HAVE ACTION TAKEN TO FIX IT FOR FUTURE USE.
