Narrative:
While on final approach to runway; we received a gear disagree EICAS message. We were cleared for a right turn away from the localizer at 2000 feet. Performed QRH procedure which included alternate gear extension. After all gear were down and locked we returned for a normal landing. Post flight inspection revealed damage to the left wing gear door with part of it missing.
