Narrative:
During approach to pdx we encountered a wind shear of about 15 KTS at 100' AGL. At the same time my first officer who was flying encountered a gust of wind that raised the right wing. He immediately corrected, but ran out of aileron and I told him to go around. We were having difficulty in controling the airplane at first. We were very lightly loaded, and applying maximum power we soon climbed at 6000 FPM. We were prepared to execute the missed approach for ILS 10R with a left turn and climb to 4000'. At 1500' the tower noticed we were going around and told us to level off at 2000'. Due to the initial ctlability, and high climb rate, we overshot our 2000' altitude by 900', at which time we reversed our climb and descended to 2000'. Tower asked us if we needed any assistance and we felt like the situation was under control and said so. The rest of the go around and landing at pdx while not routing due to the gusty winds was uneventful. WX at present time, 6000' overcast, 10 winds were 140-170 degrees at 22-30 KTS.

Title: ACR MLG ENCOUNTERS WIND SHEAR WHILE LNDG AT PDX, RESULTING IN A GO AROUND, DURING WHICH TWR ISSUED AN ALT RESTRICTION WHICH WAS OVERSHOT DUE TO THE HIGH RATE OF CLIMB AND THE LATENESS OF INSTRUCTION.
Narrative: DURING APCH TO PDX WE ENCOUNTERED A WIND SHEAR OF ABOUT 15 KTS AT 100' AGL. AT THE SAME TIME MY F/O WHO WAS FLYING ENCOUNTERED A GUST OF WIND THAT RAISED THE RIGHT WING. HE IMMEDIATELY CORRECTED, BUT RAN OUT OF AILERON AND I TOLD HIM TO GO AROUND. WE WERE HAVING DIFFICULTY IN CTLING THE AIRPLANE AT FIRST. WE WERE VERY LIGHTLY LOADED, AND APPLYING MAX PWR WE SOON CLBED AT 6000 FPM. WE WERE PREPARED TO EXECUTE THE MISSED APCH FOR ILS 10R WITH A LEFT TURN AND CLB TO 4000'. AT 1500' THE TWR NOTICED WE WERE GOING AROUND AND TOLD US TO LEVEL OFF AT 2000'. DUE TO THE INITIAL CTLABILITY, AND HIGH CLB RATE, WE OVERSHOT OUR 2000' ALT BY 900', AT WHICH TIME WE REVERSED OUR CLB AND DSNDED TO 2000'. TWR ASKED US IF WE NEEDED ANY ASSISTANCE AND WE FELT LIKE THE SITUATION WAS UNDER CONTROL AND SAID SO. THE REST OF THE GAR AND LNDG AT PDX WHILE NOT ROUTING DUE TO THE GUSTY WINDS WAS UNEVENTFUL. WX AT PRESENT TIME, 6000' OVCST, 10 WINDS WERE 140-170 DEGS AT 22-30 KTS.
