Narrative:
Chalked left main wheel prior to hand propping the airplane. The plane started with no difficulties. Climbed onto the left wing to verify throttle setting and advance the magnetos from left to both. Climbed down from the wing and removed chalk. After removing the chalk the plane began to roll forward and the hand brake did not hold the plane. Any attempts to stop the airplane from rolling failed. Plane traveled down the alleyway veering to the right and struck the hangars where the plane came to a sudden stop.
