Narrative:
Light snow cover on ground plus sun made things harder to recognize. Got lost and did not use VOR cross reference. Also vacuum pump failed and did not recognize problem. Landed at airport other than on flight plan. Have made a list of things didn't do and should have done.

Title: STUDENT PLT ON FIRST CROSS COUNTRY GETS LOST AND LANDS AT ARPT OTHER THAN HIS DESTINATION. CITES SNOW AND SUN AS A VISUAL INTERFERENCE FACTOR.
Narrative: LIGHT SNOW COVER ON GND PLUS SUN MADE THINGS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE. GOT LOST AND DID NOT USE VOR CROSS REFERENCE. ALSO VACUUM PUMP FAILED AND DID NOT RECOGNIZE PROB. LANDED AT ARPT OTHER THAN ON FLT PLAN. HAVE MADE A LIST OF THINGS DIDN'T DO AND SHOULD HAVE DONE.
