Narrative:

We were departing with six passengers operating under part 91K. We were cleared to takeoff. We had just passed 50 knots with the first officer making his SOP callout when we both noticed a loud abnormal sound and vibration. I aborted the takeoff and ATC was alerted. The sound and vibration went away when the power control lever was retarded in the abort. We were asked if we needed assistance and we declined. [ATC was not notified of] an emergency. We cleared the runway at taxiway B and taxied in to park under our own power. Ground asked us why we aborted and we indicated that we experienced an abnormal noise and vibration on the takeoff roll. The passengers also heard and felt what we did. Their flight was transferred to another aircraft leaving later the same day. The company sent maintenance techs to look at the aircraft. They inspected the aircraft and found two items. The left main heat shielding was loose and the nose wheel was described as being warped. The heat shield was repaired and the nose wheel was replaced. No other abnormalities that could have been the cause were noted. The aircraft was taken out for a run-up and high speed taxi/aborted takeoff. The aircraft did not make the noise/vibration we experienced and it was returned to service.
