Heard bang; then felt severe vibrations. I called [the closest] tower to advise 'we will be landing off airport for precautionary landing due to severe vibrations' and gave them the approximate location. I called our dispatch to advise director of maintenance of our situation. Confirmed all passengers were safe and comfortable. Notified [tower] via radio all was ok.
