Narrative:
Aircraft X was level at FL350 interim altitude requesting FL370. The computer directed the handoff to the sector that controls FL370; ffo sector at ZID; who took the handoff; but the aircraft was at FL350 and entered springfield sector I78; who should have had the handoff at FL350. The computer directed the handoff to I98 because of the final requested altitude of FL370. Traffic was somewhat complex at the time due to abnormal departure routes out of ord due to weather and there were numerous requests from pilots due to widespread turbulence. I was also working the sector alone and probably could have used help with coordination with other sectors.more staffing so the sector could have been decombined and a radar associate to help with coordination and to help observe that handoffs were made to the appropriate sectors.
