Narrative:
After beginning descent along the planned vertical profile; throttles at idle; ECAM annunciated engine 2 compressor vane and advised not moving the throttles or risk losing the engine. The throttles were already at idle and other times I've had this same ECAM it has eventually cleared on its own without further problems. This time however; despite not moving the throttles; engine 2 stall then engine 2 fail also eventually annunciated. We had already divided the cockpit duties to address the initial ECAM so first officer continued through the newly developing situation. We [advised ATC]; asked for direct to the nearest suitable airport; which happened to be our destination; and notified ATC and dispatch of our condition and our intentions. After completing the displayed ecams; including completing the engine shutdown per the procedures; first officer evaluated the condition of the engine; advised no signs of damage and the possibility of a relight; and proceeded to successfully restart the engine and fully restore all affected systems. ATC and dispatch were updated that we now had 2 operating engines. The flight continued uneventfully to a successful conclusion.
