Aircraft were approaching head-on; one on a north heading and the second on a south heading. Northbound aircraft observed oncoming traffic at a distance of 300 feet and immediately took evasive action. The oncoming aircraft took no action; there was no indication that the northbound aircraft was observed by the southbound aircraft.

Title: GA student pilot reported an NMAC and evasive action taken while traveling northbound in the RNT area with another GA aircraft traveling southbound. The reporter stated the southbound traffic did not take any action.
