Narrative:
On the way to ZZZZ about 45 minutes prior to arriving at zzzzz intersection the company contacted us and asked if the captain was awake; and we replied no he was sleeping. About 15 minutes prior to zzzzz intersection the company informed us we were diverting to ZZZZ1 because [another company] flight diverted to ZZZ for an ill passenger. Dispatch asked if we would be able to accept the diversion. We then woke the captain and began to verify if we had sufficient fuel to safely divert to ZZZZ1. After doing a rough calculation of fuel numbers and distance we informed the captain we would land in ZZZZ1 with 11.5 remaining fuel which is what the FMC computed. The captain was in agreement with the fuel and we proceeded to inform dispatch we would accept a diversion to ZZZZ1. Then [we] began entering a general routing to ZZZZ1 to confirm our fuel numbers while we waited for the routing from dispatch. When the routing changed we received a call from the flight attendants to confirm our destination was ZZZZ at this time we informed them dispatch decided to divert us to ZZZZ1 and we would provide more information later. Then the captain came up to speak with [us] to confirm our divert and fuel numbers and have us verify with ATC we were diverting to ZZZZ1. We received the clearance from dispatch about 8 minutes prior to zzzzz intersection. As soon as [we] received the clearance [international relief officer] began entering the new routing in the FMC; in the mean time I was confirming our fuel numbers and routing with dispatch. Once we entered the new routing to ZZZZ1 we were showing 18.3 remf which is why [international relief officer] had me confirm the routing and fuel with dispatch because the flight plan showed us landing with 10.5 remf. Prior to approaching zzzzz intersection we finally completed and verified the correct routing from dispatch. The aircraft began the turn to the new fix on our route to ZZZZ1. Then we received a message from [center] to confirm our routing. I sent the new routing and informed them we were diverting to ZZZZ1. After receiving the message from [center] I contacted our dispatcher to confirm [center] was informed of our new route to ZZZZ1.

AS soon as [we] received the clearance [IRO] began entering the new routing in the FMC; in the mean time I was confirming our fuel numbers and routing with dispatch. Once we entered the new routing to ZZZZ1 we were showing 18.3 REMF which is why [IRO] had me confirm the routing and fuel with dispatch because the flight plan showed us landing with 10.5 REMF.
