Narrative:
After arriving and completing the shutdown checklist I stepped out on the airstair to see if the chocks were in. I thought the chocks were installed and told the first officer to release the brakes and the aircraft started to roll. The aircraft rolled about 6 feet; a flight attendant and myself screamed to the first officer to set the brakes and he did. No one was hurt and no damage was done to the aircraft.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: B767-300ER flight crew reported the aircraft started to roll when the First Officer released the brakes at the gate. The Captain; who had left the cockpit; thought the chocks were in place and told the First Officer to release the brakes.
