Narrative:

As a student pilot; I had just completed my first long cross country and had landed. I was given instructions (after being asked where I was needing to park) to turn right on alpha; cross 29R and contact ground on the other side. So I read back what I heard; and I proceeded to do that; expeditiously; knowing they like it when I get across quickly! Just after crossing the hold short lines the tower said [tail number] hold position! (An airliner was landing on 29R; and was directed to make a go around). I immediately threw hard brakes and stopped the plane before entering the runway. I waited and after several minutes they came back with cross 29L and contact ground on the other side. And; call this number. I called the number after shut down and spoke with the supervisor. I explained what I thought I had heard and what I thought I read back. In the future; I will always stop short of any hold short lines; write down all clearances. And; or double check any clearances to cross a runway!
