Narrative:

We received a taxi clearance; 'taxi kilo; alpha to runway 17.' we were parked at the FBO; the ramp entrance to the taxi way was not labeled at our location on the far south side of the [south] ramp. We entered alpha taxi way at that location and contacted ground again asking if the location where we entered alpha taxi way was correct. The ground controller said no it wasn't. We were told to taxi via kilo; then alpha. The jeppesen taxi diagram 10-a chart has kilo list as a eastern ramp location; not a taxi way entrance. It became clear that we did not understand our taxi instructions although we thought we understood our location to be in that area. We discussed as a crew the issue and came to the conclusion that we should have held our position to clarify the instruction; even if there was little doubt to our location. We failed to confirm our location; as the jeppesen airport chart is incorrect and the taxi way entrance locations are not well labeled. In the future we will confirm our location with the ground controller before entering a movement area.

Title: Corporate Captain reported being confused by taxi instructions from PHKO Ground to taxi via Kilo; Alpha to Runway 17. They entered Alpha via Lima thinking the 'K' on the airport diagram is a ramp designation.
