Narrative:
Aircraft X was inbound on the winng optimum profile descent (opd) arrival; and was unable to make the crossing restrictions on the procedure causing the aircraft to violate my airspace without a point out. This deviation likely occurred because the left controller had to slow the aircraft to provide adequate separation for the atl final controller; resulting in the aircraft no longer being able to meet the altitude restriction.terminate opd arrivals at the A80 airspace boundary. Aircraft that are 'descending via' the procedure are at excessively high altitudes and unsafe speeds; causing compression that is unpredictable. These procedures are not safe.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A80 Controller reported an aircraft descended through their airspace without being coordinated. Reporter made reference to the Optimum Profile Descent (OPD) arrival procedures as contributing to the event.
Narrative: Aircraft X was inbound on the WINNG Optimum Profile Descent (OPD) arrival; and was unable to make the crossing restrictions on the procedure causing the aircraft to violate my airspace without a point out. This deviation likely occurred because the L controller had to slow the aircraft to provide adequate separation for the ATL Final Controller; resulting in the aircraft no longer being able to meet the altitude restriction.Terminate OPD arrivals at the A80 airspace boundary.
