Narrative:
We were in the climb to FL330. The first officer was flying pilot. I was trying to input the delay code. We had a mx issue and a passenger deplane for a medical reason. I heard the auto pilot disengage. I looked up to see speed of 180 knots. I alerted the first officer of the slow speed and need for max power and that we had to descend. He performed stall recovery procedure. I confirmed max thrust; [advised ATC] and requested lower. ATC gave us FL250. As we started down the shaker activated; and we increased pitch down for descent and accelerated to approximately 280 knots. We were at FL290. Since airspeed recovered we requested to level at FL290. ATC approved. We made sure aircraft was stable; requested and were given FL330. Told ATC need for emergency was glitch in the autopilot and speed. Continued to cruise and remainder of the flight with no other problems. At destination flight attendants and passengers seemed unaware of anything happening. I was distracted with the delay code input. Contributing factors were the flight being delayed due to maintenance-related event; a passenger being deplaned due to a medical problem; (thinking about the medical issue and the need for a report); making sure aircraft back in service; rerunning the weight and balance numbers for the passenger and bag being removed. We were into day 3 of 4 on a trip that had been constant delays and weather; and day 5 of 6 for me. Concern for time and passenger connections.we were trying to take to take it slow and cover everything since we had numerous threats but I would recommend delay codes be entered at cruise and ACARS msg for slow speed regardless stage of flight.
