Narrative:

The captain rejected the takeoff at approximately 85 knots without making the appropriate call; 'reject I have the aircraft;' or any other verbal communication. As the pilot flying; I was surprised by his actions and it took me a few seconds to figure out what he was doing. The captain did not want to stop on the runway. Instead; he taxied off the runway at a safe taxi speed. We coordinated with maintenance; taxied to the gate; and swapped aircraft. We discussed the rejected takeoff procedures on numerous occasions throughout the rest of our trip.
