After takeoff from iah runway 9 lost both communication receiver transmitters. Briefly able to talk iah departure controller 121.5. Were given a heading of 180 degree 5000' altitude. Unable to navigate on own due to vuh being off the air. Transponder code XXXX for 1 minute. Turning east we were in VFR conditions. Both receivers started to work normally.
