Narrative:
On climb out; passing 17;500 ft; ECAM warning 'fwd cargo door not closed'. All other indications normal. Returned to the departure airport. Uneventful landing. This aircraft had an almost identical issue last month while climbing out. Proper repair or deferral would have prevented this air turn back. Prior to the first departure; reviewed maintenance release; including previous discrepancy of yellow system jam detection lite on during taxi and corresponding corrective action; in accordance with company fom procedures. After the air turn back for an unassociated warning; debriefed with maintenance personnel. Mechanic mentioned he had to reopen write up that was signed off in error. After further investigation; became aware that the yellow system jam det lite (MEL 27-14-xy-xy) was previously signed off in error. I was unaware of this until the mechanic mentioned it and I saw the updated aircraft maintenance release.computer entry error by the aircraft mechanic. Mechanic closed a maintenance discrepancy that should have remained open.
