Narrative:

When I examined the rudder rod ends to replace them with upgraded with grease fitting rod ends per engineering authorization (ea); I found that the rod ends that were installed previously on aircraft X were not safety wired. I initiated non routine [check] to make sure that rod ends were safety wired before the aircraft left the hangar. I wanted to ensure that the aircraft would be safe in flight. I am concerned that there might be other aircraft in our fleet or in other carrier's fleets that are also flying without the rudder rod ends being safety wired. I highly recommend that an investigation to discover where the work on the rudder was performed is initiated and then that all aircraft that were worked at that location or that person be examined to ensure that the rudder is in a safe condition for flight.I would also like to ask that the individual that performed the work; signed for the work; and inspected the work be informed that the safety wire was not installed to make sure that they know it should be to prevent this from occurring in the future again.suggested resolution: 'I am concerned that there might be other aircraft in our fleet or in other carrier's fleets that are also flying without the rudder rod ends being safety wired.
