Narrative:
During initial portion of configuring for a CAT 2 approach we got a rudder ratio EICAS and overhead annunciation. International relief officer read checklist which precluded autoland. Weather required autoland so request to alternate was made. Enroute contacted dispatch who requested we divert to yet a third airport which we did for maintenance. Repairs took a few hours and we went back to our initially filed destination where weather was now CAT 1.ipad ram mount on captain's side repeatedly fell off throughout flight and during diversion which made for difficult time managing alternate selections; multiple arrivals; and approaches. Please replace captain's ram mount if not already done. The fact that maintenance can't fix or replace the ram mount is a problem on the line. Since we had written it up enroute the item needed to be cleared at divert airport. Maintenance control asked us to send an email to have it replaced which we couldn't do during the middle of a diversion early in the morning on a remote gate in the divert airport.I know I'm wasting my breath on this; but the ram mount is a joke. Please hardwire it and make the ipad securable if you intend to have us use this with any sort of comfort. The mount fell off no less than times 2 when it was needed most. Departure with SID information and during a CAT 2-3 approach. Glad we had paper charts for this diversion. Ram mount falling off window is a safety hazard. Keep the paper charts or fix this hazard of a tool!
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: B767 Captain reported a Rudder Ratio EICAS alerted during a CAT II approach. The flight diverted to a maintenance station. The Captain's iPad mount fell off twice which was very distracting during high workload departure and approach preparations.
