Narrative:
As the F/east I advised the captain of traffic from 6-8 mi out at our 1 O'clock position to 1/4 mi off our nose. Second officer: 'traffic Y 1 O'clock 6 mi slightly low', then 'traffic Y 12 O'clock 4 mi, twin engine turbo-propeller about 9000' below us, possible VFR, heading same direction.' and then 'traffic Y 1-2 mi off the nose at about 9000' same direction'. ATC cleared us to descend from 10000' level 9000' and captain acknowledged, then began his descent. I said 'traffic Y 1/4 mi going under our nose at less than 1000'. The captain said 'I don't see the guy' and he continued descent over the top of traffic. I told the captain I was very nervous about that and he replied, 'he is probably being vectored below us and stepped down with us, besides we were probably going faster.' ATC never called out the traffic nor were any transmissions heard from or to other aircraft. When on ground and taxiing into gate I asked if either one of the captain or first officer were at all uncomfortable about descending down over the top of another aircraft. Captain responded 'I never saw the guy'. First officer said nothing.

Title: AIRORNE CONFLICT BETWEEN ACR MLG X AND UNKNOWN TWIN ENGINE TURBOPROP SMT Y NEAR ORD.
Narrative: AS THE F/E I ADVISED THE CAPT OF TFC FROM 6-8 MI OUT AT OUR 1 O'CLOCK POS TO 1/4 MI OFF OUR NOSE. S/O: 'TFC Y 1 O'CLOCK 6 MI SLIGHTLY LOW', THEN 'TFC Y 12 O'CLOCK 4 MI, TWIN ENG TURBO-PROP ABOUT 9000' BELOW US, POSSIBLE VFR, HDG SAME DIRECTION.' AND THEN 'TFC Y 1-2 MI OFF THE NOSE AT ABOUT 9000' SAME DIRECTION'. ATC CLRED US TO DSND FROM 10000' LEVEL 9000' AND CAPT ACKNOWLEDGED, THEN BEGAN HIS DSCNT. I SAID 'TFC Y 1/4 MI GOING UNDER OUR NOSE AT LESS THAN 1000'. THE CAPT SAID 'I DON'T SEE THE GUY' AND HE CONTINUED DSCNT OVER THE TOP OF TFC. I TOLD THE CAPT I WAS VERY NERVOUS ABOUT THAT AND HE REPLIED, 'HE IS PROBABLY BEING VECTORED BELOW US AND STEPPED DOWN WITH US, BESIDES WE WERE PROBABLY GOING FASTER.' ATC NEVER CALLED OUT THE TFC NOR WERE ANY TRANSMISSIONS HEARD FROM OR TO OTHER ACFT. WHEN ON GND AND TAXIING INTO GATE I ASKED IF EITHER ONE OF THE CAPT OR F/O WERE AT ALL UNCOMFORTABLE ABOUT DSNDING DOWN OVER THE TOP OF ANOTHER ACFT. CAPT RESPONDED 'I NEVER SAW THE GUY'. F/O SAID NOTHING.
