Narrative:

We were given a clearance which included the westchester 9 departure. After copying the clearance I proceeded to load the navigation information and got up to load baggage. While taxiing to the runway the other pilot and I went over the clearance after running the checklist but I forgot the SID clearance even though I had written it down. We proceeded on runway heading and I called departure control who gave us a turn to 340 degrees and asked if we forgot about the SID. I asked the controller if we had caused a problem to which he replied that there was no problem or conflict but he just needed us to comply with the SID. This appears to be just a dumb mistake but there were a lot of contributing factors. First, this was only the second trip I had flown in this type aircraft in the previous 2 months so I was not used to working the system even though I was legal. Our company operates 3 different types of aircraft, 2 different jets and a twin engine helicopter. My primary job is chief helicopter pilot. Our manager is requiring myself and the other 2 helicopter pilots to maintain currently in all 3 aircraft. All of us have complained about this as we think it is unsafe. Also, on the morning of this flight, I was scheduled to go on a helicopter trip, but it was cancelled due to the WX and our dispatcher put me on the jet instead. Mentally switched from flying a helicopter to operating a jet in low IFR in unfamiliar airports is difficult when the airplane is one you're not real proficient in. This incident could have gotten the other pilot in trouble since he was the captain, but I share the blame with a system which I think needs to be changed.

Title: CPR LTT TRACK HEADING DEVIATE. FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH SID OUT OF HPN.

Narrative: WE WERE GIVEN A CLRNC WHICH INCLUDED THE WESTCHESTER 9 DEP. AFTER COPYING THE CLRNC I PROCEEDED TO LOAD THE NAV INFO AND GOT UP TO LOAD BAGGAGE. WHILE TAXIING TO THE RWY THE OTHER PLT AND I WENT OVER THE CLRNC AFTER RUNNING THE CHKLIST BUT I FORGOT THE SID CLRNC EVEN THOUGH I HAD WRITTEN IT DOWN. WE PROCEEDED ON RWY HDG AND I CALLED DEP CTL WHO GAVE US A TURN TO 340 DEGS AND ASKED IF WE FORGOT ABOUT THE SID. I ASKED THE CTLR IF WE HAD CAUSED A PROB TO WHICH HE REPLIED THAT THERE WAS NO PROB OR CONFLICT BUT HE JUST NEEDED US TO COMPLY WITH THE SID. THIS APPEARS TO BE JUST A DUMB MISTAKE BUT THERE WERE A LOT OF CONTRIBUTING FACTORS. FIRST, THIS WAS ONLY THE SECOND TRIP I HAD FLOWN IN THIS TYPE ACFT IN THE PREVIOUS 2 MONTHS SO I WAS NOT USED TO WORKING THE SYS EVEN THOUGH I WAS LEGAL. OUR COMPANY OPERATES 3 DIFFERENT TYPES OF ACFT, 2 DIFFERENT JETS AND A TWIN ENG HELI. MY PRIMARY JOB IS CHIEF HELI PLT. OUR MGR IS REQUIRING MYSELF AND THE OTHER 2 HELI PLTS TO MAINTAIN CURRENTLY IN ALL 3 ACFT. ALL OF US HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS AS WE THINK IT IS UNSAFE. ALSO, ON THE MORNING OF THIS FLT, I WAS SCHEDULED TO GO ON A HELI TRIP, BUT IT WAS CANCELLED DUE TO THE WX AND OUR DISPATCHER PUT ME ON THE JET INSTEAD. MENTALLY SWITCHED FROM FLYING A HELI TO OPERATING A JET IN LOW IFR IN UNFAMILIAR ARPTS IS DIFFICULT WHEN THE AIRPLANE IS ONE YOU'RE NOT REAL PROFICIENT IN. THIS INCIDENT COULD HAVE GOTTEN THE OTHER PLT IN TROUBLE SINCE HE WAS THE CAPT, BUT I SHARE THE BLAME WITH A SYS WHICH I THINK NEEDS TO BE CHANGED.
