Narrative:
Aircraft X was descending via from dalas center sector with an 80 knot overtake on aircraft Y . I had to instruct the aircraft X pilot to slow and stop the descent in order to keep the aircraft from descending on top of aircraft Y.this has become a common occurrence and a safety issue. I fear that if the descend via procedures are allowed to continue there will be a midair collision. A controller can only prevent so much while working with a poorly designed procedure. Stop these procedures before it is too late.
