Narrative:
On final approach to ZZZ; base turning final for visual approach; night time; outside zzzzz intersection OM for ZZZ; experienced laser event. Bright high intensity green light entered cockpit from the 1130 position. Laser light source entered left eye for fraction of a second. Advised first officer (first officer) to not look out side windows. Contacted ZZZ tower to inform of event. Told tower source was approximately 2 miles south of zzzzz intersection OM from the ground. Was met by [a] police officer who filed out laser incident report. ZZZ paramedics looked at left eye; saw irritation and provided solution to rinse eye. Contacted dispatch. Continued ZZZ. Felt discomfort and burning feeling in left eye. Messaged [dispatch] in dispatch to advise I would like to have urgent care and physician to look at left eye. Went to medical center; [my airline] contracted medical urgent care facility. Advised I had a burn to the left cornea in left eye. Told me it should heal in time. Prescribed antibiotics for left eye.analysis of other pilot laser event reports to determine if a pattern exists; i.e. Location; time of day; etc. To discover and develop profiles of sources.

Title: B737-800 flight crew reported that during approach a laser light beam entered the cockpit.
