Narrative:
During a routine INS flight lesson that I was conducting (giving dual to my student in his aircraft), I asked the spirit tower for permission to fly east on V44 at 2500'. This arwy cuts through the spirit air traffic area about 2 mi south of the airport. Spirit tower approved my request and shortly afterward I requested to hold at spode intersection at 2500' before returning to the airport for landing. Spirit tower told me that I could hold at spode intersection as requested and advised me to report any change in altitude. Although my student's entry into the holding pattern took us a little further north than I would have liked (almost over creve coeur airport), we entered the hold at spode uneventfully, flew the pattern twice and then landed at spirit. When we landed we were asked to call the stl tower (supervisor) for violating the TCA. I am a director of the stl flight instrument's association, I personally organized and ran the flight instrument's revalidation clinic this 2/90 and I attend almost all of the FAA/ATC safety meetings and I have never heard anyone advise pilots to challenge a tower or radar facility as to whether they are authority/authorized to permit flight into certain airspace. I haven't read the LOA's for spirit tower's airspace, and who am I to say that if spirit tower clears me to hold at spode intersection, that they haven't used their ground line to advise stl tower of my intentions and authorization. In a nutshell, spirit tower gave me an illegal clearance that infringed on stl's airspace (TCA). They did not inform stl tower, creating a dangerous situation, and I am in a world of hurt because I unintentionally and innocently asked for and received permission to do a routine hold. Please help clean up this communications problem if you can!

Title: ACFT ENTERS TCA WITHOUT AUTH.
Narrative: DURING A ROUTINE INS FLT LESSON THAT I WAS CONDUCTING (GIVING DUAL TO MY STUDENT IN HIS ACFT), I ASKED THE SPIRIT TWR FOR PERMISSION TO FLY E ON V44 AT 2500'. THIS ARWY CUTS THROUGH THE SPIRIT ATA ABOUT 2 MI S OF THE ARPT. SPIRIT TWR APPROVED MY REQUEST AND SHORTLY AFTERWARD I REQUESTED TO HOLD AT SPODE INTXN AT 2500' BEFORE RETURNING TO THE ARPT FOR LNDG. SPIRIT TWR TOLD ME THAT I COULD HOLD AT SPODE INTXN AS REQUESTED AND ADVISED ME TO RPT ANY CHANGE IN ALT. ALTHOUGH MY STUDENT'S ENTRY INTO THE HOLDING PATTERN TOOK US A LITTLE FURTHER N THAN I WOULD HAVE LIKED (ALMOST OVER CREVE COEUR ARPT), WE ENTERED THE HOLD AT SPODE UNEVENTFULLY, FLEW THE PATTERN TWICE AND THEN LANDED AT SPIRIT. WHEN WE LANDED WE WERE ASKED TO CALL THE STL TWR (SUPVR) FOR VIOLATING THE TCA. I AM A DIRECTOR OF THE STL FLT INSTR'S ASSOCIATION, I PERSONALLY ORGANIZED AND RAN THE FLT INSTR'S REVALIDATION CLINIC THIS 2/90 AND I ATTEND ALMOST ALL OF THE FAA/ATC SAFETY MEETINGS AND I HAVE NEVER HEARD ANYONE ADVISE PLTS TO CHALLENGE A TWR OR RADAR FAC AS TO WHETHER THEY ARE AUTH TO PERMIT FLT INTO CERTAIN AIRSPACE. I HAVEN'T READ THE LOA'S FOR SPIRIT TWR'S AIRSPACE, AND WHO AM I TO SAY THAT IF SPIRIT TWR CLRS ME TO HOLD AT SPODE INTXN, THAT THEY HAVEN'T USED THEIR GND LINE TO ADVISE STL TWR OF MY INTENTIONS AND AUTHORIZATION. IN A NUTSHELL, SPIRIT TWR GAVE ME AN ILLEGAL CLRNC THAT INFRINGED ON STL'S AIRSPACE (TCA). THEY DID NOT INFORM STL TWR, CREATING A DANGEROUS SITUATION, AND I AM IN A WORLD OF HURT BECAUSE I UNINTENTIONALLY AND INNOCENTLY ASKED FOR AND RECEIVED PERMISSION TO DO A ROUTINE HOLD. PLEASE HELP CLEAN UP THIS COMS PROB IF YOU CAN!
