Narrative:
We were cleared to land on 8L at ont. Flew a VFR visibility pattern. An large transport was holding short of runway 8R on taxiway 20T (facing to the south). During flare, we experienced significant jet wash from this large transport. If we had been a lighter, smaller aircraft, we could have experienced an upset, or certainly a very harrowing experience. Suggest ont tower hold all aircraft short of 8L on taxiway 20P until they can be cleared for takeoff on 8R, and there are no aircraft on short final to runway 8L.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: FLT CREW OF MLG ENCOUNTERED JET BLAST FROM LGT HOLDING BETWEEN RWYS WITH TAIL POINTED TOWARD THE TOUCHDOWN AREA OF LNDG ACFT.
Narrative: WE WERE CLRED TO LAND ON 8L AT ONT. FLEW A VFR VIS PATTERN. AN LGT WAS HOLDING SHORT OF RWY 8R ON TXWY 20T (FACING TO THE S). DURING FLARE, WE EXPERIENCED SIGNIFICANT JET WASH FROM THIS LGT. IF WE HAD BEEN A LIGHTER, SMALLER ACFT, WE COULD HAVE EXPERIENCED AN UPSET, OR CERTAINLY A VERY HARROWING EXPERIENCE. SUGGEST ONT TWR HOLD ALL ACFT SHORT OF 8L ON TXWY 20P UNTIL THEY CAN BE CLRED FOR TKOF ON 8R, AND THERE ARE NO ACFT ON SHORT FINAL TO RWY 8L.
