Narrative:
During initial climb in VNAV; shortly after right autopilot engagement by the flying pilot and during the flaps transition from 5; 1 to up; the autopilot commanded the aircraft to descend. While the airspeed was increasing; as the monitoring pilot I took command of the aircraft by disengaging the autopilot and flying manually back to a climb. During the few seconds of recovery; the maximum flap speed may have been exceeded. The autopilot was later reengaged without a problem. A maintenance write up of the event was send via ACARS to the maintenance department.
