Narrative:
Obtained full briefing (including asking for NOTAMS) from FSS. I was advised by flight service no NOTAMS for aiy. Filed IFR flight plan from N88 to aiy. Landed runway 22 at aiy with winds directly down the runway. Dropped off passenger west/O leaving transient parking area. Restarted aircraft, contacted clearance delivery for IFR clearance back to N88. Advised controller (clearance delivery) twice prior to takeoff I would be departing runway 22. No mention either time from controller that runway was closed for takeoffs (ok for lndgs). Upon departure while climbing through approximately 600' MSL contacted departure control and at this time was asked if I had taken off from runway 22. When I replied 'affirmative', controller then asked if I was aware that runway 22 was closed for takeoffs. I advised him that I was unaware of runway being closed for takeoffs he replied, 'its in the airport facs directory'. I was then cleared to 5000' for cruise. No further problems encountered during flight.

Title: GA SMA PLT DEPARTS CLOSED RWY AT AIY.
Narrative: OBTAINED FULL BRIEFING (INCLUDING ASKING FOR NOTAMS) FROM FSS. I WAS ADVISED BY FLT SVC NO NOTAMS FOR AIY. FILED IFR FLT PLAN FROM N88 TO AIY. LANDED RWY 22 AT AIY WITH WINDS DIRECTLY DOWN THE RWY. DROPPED OFF PAX W/O LEAVING TRANSIENT PARKING AREA. RESTARTED ACFT, CONTACTED CLRNC DELIVERY FOR IFR CLRNC BACK TO N88. ADVISED CTLR (CLRNC DELIVERY) TWICE PRIOR TO TKOF I WOULD BE DEPARTING RWY 22. NO MENTION EITHER TIME FROM CTLR THAT RWY WAS CLOSED FOR TKOFS (OK FOR LNDGS). UPON DEP WHILE CLBING THROUGH APPROX 600' MSL CONTACTED DEP CTL AND AT THIS TIME WAS ASKED IF I HAD TAKEN OFF FROM RWY 22. WHEN I REPLIED 'AFFIRMATIVE', CTLR THEN ASKED IF I WAS AWARE THAT RWY 22 WAS CLOSED FOR TKOFS. I ADVISED HIM THAT I WAS UNAWARE OF RWY BEING CLOSED FOR TKOFS HE REPLIED, 'ITS IN THE ARPT FACS DIRECTORY'. I WAS THEN CLRED TO 5000' FOR CRUISE. NO FURTHER PROBS ENCOUNTERED DURING FLT.
