Given taxi instructions to taxi to runway 8R via taxiway alpha; left on november; hold short 8L. November; gulf appear to 'join' each other. Advised ground control holding short of runway 8L but had passed taxiway november. Ground then cleared us to back taxi runway 8L. All else normal ground ops.better taxiway markings at this location. Better taxiway sign illumination at this location. Better chart symbology at this location of taxiways november and gulf. Very confusing.
