Narrative:

Cloud tops were 5000'. I was at 6000'. Flew direct to eni on 315 degree heading. Was cleared for approach and didn't think I had to do a procedure turn because my heading was relatively close to the final approach course. We had all the airspace and had no problem descending to MDA due to high drag confign on the small transport. I was so used to intercepts for approachs I got used to not doing procedure turns--oh well! I'll check closer now. We were only 1000' above the altitude for the intermediate approach segment when crossing the VOR--another reason I didn't consider a procedure turn.
