Narrative:
On departure; when landing gear retracted; got primary and secondary red indications of right main landing gear and/or gear doors not fully retracted. Contacted departure control; continued departure procedure at 210 KIAS and leveled at 10000 MSL headed northeast while running QRH. Complied with QRH; recycled gear down; got normal gear down indications; then gear handle back up. Same indications when gear retracted again. Consulted with maintenance; dispatch; sent ACARS air turn back message; and returned. Fuel dump was not necessary to land under maximum landing weight; did not declare an emergency as gear down indications were fully normal; no other malfunctions were present. On ground maintenance personnel stated right main gear door recently underwent major maintenance. Gear system may need further tweaking.
