Narrative:
Maybe we should have noticed it sooner but I guess it had been about 45 mins since we talked to center, and after a few calls we couldn't raise them. So, after a few stabs at other frequencys we finally got a hold of the correct sector for our position. They were understandably annoyed, but really we had never received a clearance to switch over, and then I was finally we just slipped out of range. It happens! As to fault, I don't now what to say, except maybe everyone can take a little credit. I don't know what traffic problems were caused as a result, since the controller did not indicate, but he did want us to trade altitudes fairly soon. Our choice of altitudes.
