Narrative:
ATC had asked for a rapid descent from 15000' to 12000' and also asked for a immediate turn to 180 degree. Autoplt with automatic throttles and vertical navigation were all on. We went through 12000'. First officer was flying. I disconnected autoplt, climbed to 12000' from 11600'. The controller had forgotten we had called him.
