Narrative:
After flight sna to iah, arrived at gate X at iah. FAA aci and his 'assistant' greeted the aircraft and informed captain that we were operating a 'non-airworthy' aircraft since this aircraft did not comply with ad 88-07.07. Aci said he was going to make an 'example of (our) airlines' and we were the 'sacrificial lamb.' this was due to the method the F/a's used to secure the new girt bar retaining straps. Prior to departure from san to arrival at iah, all slides were fully functional and properly armed. The discrepancy occurred after disarming slides at arrival. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following: reporter states, 'when we were accosted bythe overly officious aci, the captain called the chief pilot who came immediately to the aircraft and suggested to the aci that the flight crew be removed from the problem since maintenance had certified the aircraft to the flight crew and they had no part in the alleged violation. The aci grudgingly backed off and neither the captain nor I have heard anything about the incident.' the alleged violation concerns the velcro strap which is part of the latching mechanism for the emergency slides. The strap was apparently to be modified in 3/90 and had not been accomplished by maintenance.

Title: ACR MET THE ACFT AND ADVISED FLT CREW THEY WERE IN VIOLATION OF AN A.D. ORDER THAT HAD NOT BEEN ACCOMPLISHED.
Narrative: AFTER FLT SNA TO IAH, ARRIVED AT GATE X AT IAH. FAA ACI AND HIS 'ASSISTANT' GREETED THE ACFT AND INFORMED CAPT THAT WE WERE OPERATING A 'NON-AIRWORTHY' ACFT SINCE THIS ACFT DID NOT COMPLY WITH AD 88-07.07. ACI SAID HE WAS GOING TO MAKE AN 'EXAMPLE OF (OUR) AIRLINES' AND WE WERE THE 'SACRIFICIAL LAMB.' THIS WAS DUE TO THE METHOD THE F/A'S USED TO SECURE THE NEW GIRT BAR RETAINING STRAPS. PRIOR TO DEP FROM SAN TO ARR AT IAH, ALL SLIDES WERE FULLY FUNCTIONAL AND PROPERLY ARMED. THE DISCREPANCY OCCURRED AFTER DISARMING SLIDES AT ARR. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING: RPTR STATES, 'WHEN WE WERE ACCOSTED BYTHE OVERLY OFFICIOUS ACI, THE CAPT CALLED THE CHIEF PLT WHO CAME IMMEDIATELY TO THE ACFT AND SUGGESTED TO THE ACI THAT THE FLT CREW BE REMOVED FROM THE PROB SINCE MAINT HAD CERTIFIED THE ACFT TO THE FLT CREW AND THEY HAD NO PART IN THE ALLEGED VIOLATION. THE ACI GRUDGINGLY BACKED OFF AND NEITHER THE CAPT NOR I HAVE HEARD ANYTHING ABOUT THE INCIDENT.' THE ALLEGED VIOLATION CONCERNS THE VELCRO STRAP WHICH IS PART OF THE LATCHING MECHANISM FOR THE EMER SLIDES. THE STRAP WAS APPARENTLY TO BE MODIFIED IN 3/90 AND HAD NOT BEEN ACCOMPLISHED BY MAINT.
