Narrative:
Landing at buchanan field called in at benicia bridge, tower told me to circle, runway 19R was busy, later called from mothball fleet, tower said runway 19R still busy. Told them any runway is ok. They said runway 19L is available. North of mallard reservoir I called tower and asked 2 mi final for runway 19L, ok? They said no, I asked where do you want me? Tower said report downwind opp tower for runway 19L. I did this and landed. After landing they had me call tower and said I flew through the downwind traffic pattern for runway 19L when I flew down to the south end of runway 19L. I believe I was far enough to the east and did not conflict with runway 19L traffic pattern. Comment: told to circle at benicia bridge for traffic when another runway is available is unusual I think. Maybe they are new on the job.
