Narrative:
The wi-fi on our aircraft is intermittent at best. We now have great technology to allow us to better avoid weather by using our ipads along with wsi pilot brief. This gives us a real-time look at the weather along our entire route in addition to ATC reports for our sector and our onboard weather radar which works out to about 160 NM.this is a huge safety issue which could save us from flying through a thunderstorm. The onboard radar shows us the nearest storms but sometimes blocks (or shadows out) storms beyond the closest one. The intermittent wi-fi is a distraction; I ended up turning wsi pilot brief off and used the radar to help avoid the weather.
