It was reported to the new york approach controller at the time of occurrence.

Narrative: While downwind for runway 4 at LaGuardia airport; at 4000 feet; over the Hudson River; roughly abeam Central Park; the flight crew witnessed a drone passing the aircraft off the left side just slightly higher; probably within 150 feet of the aircraft.
