Narrative:

Takeoff from mia to cvg via J73, then given direct lal. About 20 mi south of lal VOR, the engine #1 fire warning light and bell sounded intermittently. The abnormal checklist was accomplished and #1 a detector loop was found to be (tested) intermittent. B loop tested ok. Shortly after passing lal VOR, #1 engine fire light and bell sounded again intermittently, but this time in B detector loop. I had to assume a fire. Shut down #1 engine, fired an extinguishing bottle into it. The alarm stopped. I declared an emergency, called dispatch in atl, had tpa in sight and landed there. Supplemental information from acn 147101: problem was electrical in a fire detector box, no actual fire.
