Narrative:
I had not flown for several months and was getting practice in. As I tried to get to bkv I found myself hemmed in by building cumulonimbus; rain; and thunderstorm activity. I was unable to make bkv and updrafts and cloud tops pushed me above the class B veil beyond 6;000 ft to 6;400 about. I had relied on my garmin weather in cockpit; but it was not depicting actual conditions. I will not rely on this instrument again.
